TFT with DJ: 5 Quick Tips to Upgrade your Game!

DJ joins us to discuss some quick tips for upgrading your TFT game!

Team fight tactics is by no means a new game but thanks to its recent mobile release has taken off again in terms of popularity. I have been playing a TON and have been having a blast so today I’m gunna share some tips that I think will help those who are just picking up the game.

Go for 2 star champions early

This might seem like more of a bait mindset, but 2 star champions are what will carry you through the early game into the mid game. This allows you to ride a win streak to build a healthy economy. Sometimes this can also be what lets you kill enough of your opponents champions so you can ride a losing streak with taking the least amount of damage possible.

Don’t get addicted to rolling

This was, personally, my biggest hang up when I first started playing. I LOVE rolling. I love gambling. There’s always a rush when you get exactly what you want and feel validated in your choices. But just like in real life, mindlessly throwing your money at the wall will not get you that far. Learning how to manage money is one the hardest, but most crucial of TFT and learning how to be disciplined in your rolls is the first step to building an empire. I suggest never rolling while you are under 20 gold unless you have something like 3-4 pairs that you are trying to level up or it’s the super late game like the last fight of the game. . Some might say that 20 is too low to roll still or some might say that it’s perfectly fine to roll at least once but the important part is that you set a limit and follow it. This is similar to how one would  manage money in real life.

Look at content

Just like basically everyone other game there is a TON of content on TFT. Watching, reading, and listening too content will present a lot of information that you simply would not have come up with by yourself. TFT is a massive game with a ton of things to learn so looking up videos, cheat sheets, articles ETC is 100% the fastest and best way to digest all that goes into Team Fight Tactics, because you quite frankly, will not be able to learn it all just on your own. This tip also have a lot to do with the final two tips. Champions, items, comps, etc are just a few things that you can accelerate your learning towards by simply just consuming as much content as you want/can about either particular subject.

Pay attention to items

This next point is assuming that you have followed the previous point and have looked up what items do, what they are called, and what they can be combined with to make stronger items. Pay attention to what items fall when you are fighting your opponent or bots but, most importantly, don’t just  look at the champion in the ring. Look at what item it is wearing. Sometimes it is better to just take a champ with a good item than a champ that is considered to be better since you could just sell that champ and put the item on something else that is better suited for it.

Pay close attention to what champions are available.

When you are either rolling through to find some champs or just having the shop refresh at the beginning of every round, you could gain some information by looking at what champs you have past up multiple times and evaluate that they mean to your team and how you use them.  This could potentially mean that there is another comp open other than the one that you are looking for and you could be immensely rewarded for switching. Also pay attention to what champs your opponents have because this can give you some info on things like positioning, as well as letting you decide if the champion that you are trying to level up has enough pieces in the pool that you feel like you can hang on too it.

Conclusion

TFT is an immensely fun and complex game that is difficult to become good at but I hope some of my tips have and/or will help you in your quest to climb the ladder.  Remember that his game will take awhile because you get the hang of it and that you can always be learning more. I hope you have as much fun with TFT as I have and I hope you all are doing well in this crazy world we are living in atm. Happy gaming and I’ll see you in the ques!
